At Global Health Clinic, we don’t create a treatment plan based solely on the severity of the patient’s pain. We start with a detailed patient history including all of the factors that can affect the patient’s condition. We also make use of X-rays, MRIs, diagnostic ultrasound, NCV/EMG evaluations and orthopedic, neurological and biomechanical examinations. We then develop a customized regimen that combines physical and manual therapy, acupuncture and pain management. This treatment will relieve symptoms and correct the underlying cause of the problem. In cases where there have been degenerative changes, we advise the patient about alternative treatment.

Patients who suffer from back pain usually assume that the severity of their condition is diagnosed based on the severity of their pain. At Global Health Clinic, we don’t take action based solely on the severity of pain the patient is experiencing. We believe in taking a more diverse approach. Our first step is to take a detailed patient history, because we believe that most misdiagnoses are the result of not asking the right questions. That means that we ask our patients about more than what they are feeling. Our patient histories include lifestyle, work, diet and any other factors that can affect the patient’s condition. We supplement the information we’ve receive from the patient with the results of X-rays, MRIs, diagnostic ultrasound, and NCV/EMG evaluations. The final step in our information gathering phase is to give the patient extensive orthopedic, neurological and biomechanical examinations.

After this thorough testing, we are able to develop a back pain treatment regimen that employs physical and manual therapy, acupuncture and pain management in varying combinations that are best suited to each unique individual. It is this willingness to use different treatment modalities that makes us able to help all patients who suffer from back pain and related conditions. We will not only relieve their symptoms, but we will also correct the underlying cause of the problem. In addition, we work to make sure the problem is unlikely to return.

However, it is important to keep in mind that while all patients will experience an improvement in their condition, not everyone can expect a full recovery.  In cases where there have been many degenerative changes, we work to educate the patient as to what other alternative treatment options may be available to help their condition. These options are generally more invasive and pose a higher risk than the back pain treatment offered at Global Health Clinic.
